If a parent, spouse, or relative, or a close friend passes away with assets in their name, and the estate is over a certain amount, the Nevada law requires that the estate be probated. Probate is a Court process where a Judge oversees the proper disposition of a person’s estate.
You may be required to obtain “Letters Testamentary” or “Letters of Administration” by a bank or other entity in order to transfer assets. Even though probate may be more time consuming and costly than a living trust, in some instances it might be more appropriate to have a Court oversee the distribution of assets.
The Law Office of Richard C. Blower provides representation in Court throughout the probate process, based upon an hourly rate. All attorney fees are subject to approval by the Court.
